CALL FOR ART

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh wants to showcase the wealth of talent in the LGBTQ community as well as our many Allies.
The show is open to artist who identify as: Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Trans people, the Queer Community and all Allies living in Western Pennsylvania.
Artist can submit one piece to hang on the wall for show and sale.
The show will run June 3rd to July 28th. With an opening Sunday June 3rd. 6-9pm.
Deadline for submission is May 21.
Bring your work with tags to the GLCC on May 21 between 5-8pm.

Mission Statement:

The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh (GLCC) provides gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) individuals, their families, and supporters in Western Pennsylvania with resources and opportunities to promote visibility, understanding and equality within the LGBT communities and the community-at-large. The GLCC will work toward these goals through education, social support, networking and advocacy.

A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the operation of the GLCC. The Board is led by an executive Committee comprised of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and Director of Development. There are also coordinators of the various programs of the Center. In some cases, members of the Board hold these positions.

Community Announcements

Publicize your event by inserting an advertisement into our Newsletter, which reaches thousands of people. You may also wish to add your event to our online Events Calendar. Our E-mail list subscribers receive bi-weekly announcements based on our Events Calendar.

EVENTS:

The GLCC helps sponsor several events, the most popular are OUTrageous Bingo, and Spring / Fall Fling www.Out2Dance.org . Visit our Events Calendar to see what is happening this month!

LIBRARY:

The James Fisherkeller Library at the GLCC contains over 8,000 books, CDs, DVDs and videos related to the interests of the GLBT community.  All items in the collection can be searched in the online catalog at: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/GLCC  

Subjects include history, fiction and literature, art, music, theatre, children's books, family relations, young adult books, health and wellness, coming out, erotica, biography and memoirs, and just about anything written, filmed or photographed by, for or about the GLBT community.

Books can be borrowed by anyone for 4 weeks at a time and non-book items can be borrowed for 2 weeks.

MEETING SPACES:

The GLCC meeting rooms are available at the economical price of only $2 per person and can seat up from 10 people in the more informal room to 25 people in the largest room.  To help newly forming groups get off the ground, the first two meetings are free. For larger functions, the whole facility can also be rented.

NEWSLETTER:

The GLCC Newsletter is free and mailed out every 3 months, folded and dot sealed with a discreet cover. It contains GLBT-related articles, community news to keep you up on what is happening in the community.

HEALTH DIRECTORY:

The Health Directory is a comprehensive directory of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered owned or operated and glbt friendly health organizations, and services in the tri-state area.

FRIDAY YOUTH NIGHT:

Meet other young people, read, surf the web, watch videos, listen to music, or just hang out! For ages 14-18.
