Phone Line Re-Design and Expansion


Phone Line Re-Design and Expansion

Through long hours and years of dedicated service from countless numbers of volunteers, the GLCC Phone Line has long been a constant link for the region’s GLBT community between individual members, supporters, organizations, businesses and visitors.

The GLCC Board recently charged returning Board Member Chaz Rudich with conducting a recent in-depth assessment of the Phone Line. The results clearly indicated that the role of the Phone Line had changed over the years and that a major overhaul was needed to accommodate the changing needs of callers, the community and the Center itself.

The GLCC Board subsequently charged Chaz with revamping and expanding the Phone Line program in order to maintain its vital role in providing the highest level of services to our community. This will further move the GLCC towards our stated mission, our commitment to the GLBT community and our eventual goal for becoming a full drop-in-center with expanded services and convenient hours.

We are now seeking former and new leaders to assist us in developing an in-depth volunteer training program. Applicants should be able to function both as an individual and as a team and have experience in managing volunteers. We plan on utilizing the time and skills of our volunteers both efficiently and effectively.

The phone line will continue to operate during this expansion to avoid any disruption of services. Current operating hours are Monday though Friday 6:30pm to 9:30pm and Saturday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
