UPMC STUDY REACHES OUT TO GLBT PARTICIPANTS

UPMC STUDY REACHES OUT TO GLBT PARTICIPANTS

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is seeking men and women between the ages of 18 to 45 to take part in a research study of borderline personality disorder. They are also reaching out to the GLBT community for volunteers.

To be eligible to participate you must have symptoms of the disorder which include troubled personal relationships, chronic feelings of emptiness or boredom, difficulty controlling anger or frustration, mood swings, or self-destructive or impulsive behaviors.

Participants will be compensated depending upon their level of involvement with the study. You will be interviewed about changes in mood and behaviors throughout your life and will be asked about a variety of personality traits. Upon completion of the interviews, you will receive $150. Some participants may be asked to take part in additional study procedures including a physical examination, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and a positron emission tomography (PET) scan. Those who complete the medical procedures will receive $250.

For more details, call 412-246-5367. (All calls are confidential.)
