For the Bible Tells Me So
"Thought-provoking portrait of a quiet challenge rising within America's
churches." - Chicago Tribune
Is the Bible an excuse to hate? This compelling doc gets at the
historical distortions of the Good Book as well as the ease with which
holy writings have been exploited in America. A winner for Best
Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival, it's informed by
such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Harvard's Peter Gomes.
We also meet five very Christian, very American families - including
those of former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt and Episcopalian
Bishop Gene Robinson. We discover how insightful people of faith handle
the realization of having a gay child. Very rational and often quite
moving, the film offers clarity and understanding to anyone caught in
the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity. (Daniel Karsake; USA;
