DEFEAT PA MARRIAGE AMENDMENT POST GAZETTE POLL

Yesterday's public hearing on a state amendment banning gay marriage drew a great crowd of GLBT supporters (in fact, we far out numbered the opponents).

Our next step to help win this battle is to sway public opinion. The Post-Gazette is conducting a poll on this matter. Currently, we are winning by about a 10% margin. We need you help to simply go to the link below and VOTE AGAINST the amendment. The more support we have the better it will look.
(A person can only vote one time per computer....so pass this on to all your friends).

Visit:
http://www.post-gazette.com/polls/?pollID=2463 and vote NO to this constitutional amendment that strips United States and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania tax paying citizens the right to get married OR have any equivalent such as domestic partnership. This is not JUST a bill...this is a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT!Thanks for your participation!

THE LAMBDA FOUNDATION PITTSBURGH, PA PRESENTS JOAN RIVERS

In Celebration of The Lambda Foundation’s 25th Anniversary at the Byham Theater

Saturday, June 21, 2008, 8PM

JOAN RIVERS is a force of nature, and one of the hardest working celebrities in the world. Comedienne; Tony-nominated actress; best-selling author; Emmy Award-winning television talk-show host; playwright; screenwriter; motion picture director; columnist; lecturer; syndicated radio host; jewelry designer and cosmetic company entrepreneur; red-carpet fashion laureate; businesswoman and, most importantly to her, mother and grandmother. She is exhausted!

JOAN RIVERS created her own brand of irreverent, unconventional comedy to forge her remarkable rise to stardom in the entertainment world.

JOAN RIVERS has used her unique gifts of humor, compassion and tenacity to triumph over personal tragedy and attain extraordinary professional success.

JOAN RIVERS is one of the most naturally style-savvy women on the planet.

From her signature question, “Can we talk?” (officially a Federal trademark), to her red-carpet mantra, “Who are you wearing?” the woman who asks the questions gets the answers America…and the world…wants to hear.

The Lambda Foundation exists to foster for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender People - educational, social, cultural, health and artistic projects and programs in the Greater Pittsburgh area through grants and scholarships to organizations and individuals. Over the past 25 years, The Lambda Foundation has provided nearly 1 million dollars in support of a wide variety of organizations and individuals, and continues to grow and support LGBT initiatives in the local Pittsburgh area.

The Lambda Foundation extends special thanks to their individual contributors, Annual Ball participants and corporate sponsors - UPMC and Macy’s. Additional thanks to special contributors Kirk Johnson and Henry Kravovsky.

Also performing by special request are Pittsburgh’s own RENAISSANCE CITY CHOIRS

Public Hearings in Pittsburgh on Marriage Amendment

Please come to the public hearing in Pittsburgh on Thursday, April 10th and tell Pennsylvania Senate Members to vote NO on Senate Bill 1250.
Senate Bill 1250 is a Constitutional Amendment which would ban gay marriage AND civil unions in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, April 10th there will be a public hearing in Pittsburgh to discuss the impact this amendment would have on the Commonwealth. In past hearings, supporters of this discriminatory bill have been extremely active and vocal. It is crucial that we outnumber them this time around. We urgently need people to come to the hearing so senators know that people from the Pittsburgh area don't want our General Assembly to legislate hate.

Date and time: Thursday, April 10th, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm. Arrive early to get a seat so that our numbers can be most visible.

Location: Allegheny County Courthouse, Gold Room 437 Grant St., Downtown Pittsburgh Corner of Grant and Forbes

*** We will have lapel stickers at the hearing. Please be sure to pick one up to show your opposition to the marriage amendment***

Call (412) 681-7736 for more information.
