[GLCC NewsBlast: 165] Unified for Youth Conference July 17-19

GLSEN Pittsburgh, in partnership with PERSAD and PFLAG, is proud to
announce our first Unified for Youth (U4Y) Conference to be held at
the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Downtown. The conference will open
Friday evening, July 17 for registration, snacks and entertainment.
Saturday we will have workshops for L,G,B,T,Q and ally youth in grades
8 through 12 and parents/adults. The schedule will include:

Continental Breakfast and Tabling Event
Integrating the Arts - we will make a quilt for future Pride Parades
Becoming and Advocate (one for adults, one for youth)
What is gender Identity? (one for adults, one for youth)
Creating the New Dream (adults only)

Lunch

Steven Glassmen - Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Human Relations
Commission will speak about Legal Issues. -Mr. Glassman is the first
Gay Man appointed by the Governor (a limited number of separate
teckets are available for this event).

Panel Discussin followed by Dinner and a preview of a documentary at
the Harris Theater called: "Out in the Silence." It won a Sundance
Film Festival Award and will be presented by the filmmakers along with
the subjects of the film who are from Oil City, P.A. A Limited number
of puplic tickets will also be sold for this event.

Sunday will conclude the conference with three workshops: Diversity
in you Future (for youth) and Conselor Competency (for adults).
Bullying - an Epidemic will then be presented for all.

The conference will end at noon on Sunday. Cost for all meals and the
conference is $25 for the 1st person and $10 for each family member
thereafter. The tickets for Mr. Glassman and the Film are included in
