Position: Event Manager - Pittsburgh Pride

Hours: Full-time. Actual hours may vary depending upon requirements of

Compensation: Position is salaried (exempt). This is a temporary
position through June
2010.

Job Description: The Event Manager will play an integral role in the
planning, execution
and evaluation of the Delta Foundation's annual Pride Celebration
activities celebrating the
diversity in our region. As Event Manager he/she will work with the
teams responsible for
putting together detailed plans to execute a full line-up of events.
The candidate must be
able to work independently. The event organizer is hands-on and will
require working as
part of a team. You will need to complete a wide range of activities
requiring clear, effective
communication, critical thinking, excellent organizational skills and
attention to detail. You
must be able to work well under pressure, make decisions and ensure
the smooth and
efficient running of an event. Additional responsibilities will
include, but are not limited to
fund raising, communication with Delta sponsors, vendors, and event
staff, and other duties
as assigned. This position will report to the President of the Delta
Foundation of Pittsburgh
and will attend Board meetings as requested by the Board.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Planning, coordination, and management of Pride events
• Coordination with event partners and partner staff
• Managing a budget
• Working with a team to obtain proper permits
• Working with a team to plan and execute all logistical items for the
Pride Week

Events
• Working with a team to organize parking, traffic control, security,
first aid,
hospitality, media and talent
• Working with a team to coordinate staffing and volunteer
requirements
• Prepare logistic documents for all vendors
• Day of event management
• Post event evaluation

Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old and have transportation.
Able to pass a
criminal background and child abuse history check (Act 32/33
Clearance). Flexible
schedule. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Hello GLCC folks.

I am Ryan Walsh, and I am part of a three person, all LGBT-owned/
managed organization that produces techno and house music events. Our
most recent series is called Hijack, in which we travel around the
city hosting events at unlikely spaces. We bring in musicians from
around the world and focus on combing artistic installation with top
quality sound.

Our next event is at the former Pegasus space downtown. All of us were
sad to see the space close, and we wish to give it, and its almost 18
year history, a proper closing event. Below you can find information

techno monthlies in the US, Craig and Alland have been defining the
sound of San Fran for almost 5 years.

We're combining the sound of [KONTROL], the production quality you
know from Humanaut + Hijack, and the legendary former space of Pegasus
for one memorable night.

About Alland:
Alland Byallo is one of the busiest men in the San Francisco Techno
community. Having produced electronic music for over 10 years (and
DJ'd for nearly as long) Alland come to be an international DJ and
producer, releasing music on respected US and European record labels
such as Liebe*Detail, Floppy Funk, Dirtybird, and Utensil Recordings,
and headlining events on both sides of the country. His music, a blend
of old and new elements of techno, house and minimal, is regularly
charted and has been licensed to CD's released by labels like
Universal and Proton Music.

As owner of Nighlight Music and resident, designer and A&R for
[KONTROL], Alland has quickly grown to be one of the most in-demand
Techno talents that SF has to offer.

About Craig:
Hailing from the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Craig found his
early tastes in music heavily influenced by the environment that
surrounded him. His influences of hard-edged music initially turned
his ears towards the gritty sounds of D'n'B and Detroit Techno as his
passion for the beat flourished. Within a few years, Craig sold his
guitar, bass, and amps to buy his first set of 1200's. He started off
playing breakbeats and D'n'B, but soon after found his art in techno,
due to it's complexity and his ability to create longer mixes with
more minimal tracks. Soon after, in the wake of a burgeoning rave
scene, he decided it was time to introduce other people to the music
he loved and played, and in 1998, at the ripe old age of 19, he threw
his first event.

In the years to come Craig continued to host events, from small club
after-hours to 5000 person warehouse raves, bringing the likes of
Green Velvet, The Stickmen, Mike Dearborn, Marco Carola, Funk' D'void,
Slam, and H-Foundation to name a few. After relocating to San
Francisco in 2001 in an effort to broaden his horizons, he started to
get more into house music, or as people so often call it, he became
"San Francsicanized." The result: [KONTROL] and a host of remixes on
Mothership and blipswitch.

become currency, the stakes get higher, and the trio discovers the
reality of limits set on the free speech of youth.

When this play premiered at Roundabout Theatre Company's Underground
in New York, the New York Times praised the production, saying, "The
play's real accomplishment is its picture of the borderland between
late adolescence and adulthood, where grown-up ideas and ambition
coexist with childish will and bravado."

[GLCC NewsBlast: 234] Couples Based Focus Group

Please attend the focus group on JANUARY 9, 2010 to talk about
ATTITUDES TOWARD COUPLES BASED HIV TESTING!! This is a voluntary and
anonymous focus groups. To attend this group you must be coupled for
at least three months. We will not be using names to preserve the
anonymity of the participants in the group. We will hold two focus
groups at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. You can choose either the 1:00 p.m.
or 4:00 p.m. We will meet on January 9th at the University of
Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health on the corner of DeSoto
and Fifth Avenues in Oakland. The building is located next to the old
Children's Hospital and has a large stick figure on the front of the
building. The focus group will consist of 12 men discussing their
attitudes toward couples based HIV testing. A pilot program was
conducted in Africa and will be presented to you. You will be asked
your opinions of how this pilot program might be used in this area.
You will also be asked to talk about how you as a couple communicate
health information. Both partners need not attend together. One may
come to the 1:00 p.m. and another come to the 4:00 p.m. group, or you
can both come together or just one person in the couple may come to
the group.
