Smoke & Mirrors

The GLCC is announcing something new for Pride in Pittsburgh this year!

~Smoke and Mirrors~

Art Show•Gallery Crawl•Dance Party

June 10, 2017

This year The GLCC welcomes you to take PRIDE in ART! We will be celebrating creativity in our LGBTQ+ community! The event, “Smoke and Mirrors”, represents everyone’s personal coming out journey through the smoky, hazy unknown into the mirror stage of reflection. Now it’s our time to SHINE!

Spend the day visiting over a dozen supportive community spaces, strolling Penn Ave (Garfield, 15224) through interactive exhibits and exploring the many facets of Pride through the years. All evening long you can enjoy LGBTQ+ performers and see lots of queer art by people from the Pittsburgh community and the night won’t end until we get the chance to dance!

Most activities, events and stops are FREE! (food, drinks and small cover charges may apply at various events.) There will be wine and select beer at certain venues and plenty of recovery friendly stops; most are open to all ages! We are also committed to making sure that venues will be as handicap accessible as possible.

Where is this held? All along Penn Avenue- some stops include- Most Wanted Fine Art, Union Project, The Merton Center, Level Up Studios, Irma Freeman Center, Bantha Tea Bar, Workshop PGH and more!

Who is performing? We’ll have TONS of LOCAL independent LGBTQ+ performers from spoken word and open mic, to Q*bert- a queer improv comedy troupe and Project Silk! We have artists- and performances by Mark Lykkos, Serpentine, Kara Lynne Laus and •f i g• and many more to come! Like us on Facebook to keep an eye on the lineup!

What else? There will be local organizations with information tables, a queer craft market, bake sales and other goodies, activities for kids and lots of art by local LGBTQ+ artists!

How can I find out more? RSVP on Facebook and you’ll be notified when we add to our lineup of performers, prizes you can win and other exciting stuff!

Or make sure we have your email address for our mailing list- to get updates!

How can you help? The GLCC is committed to making this event for the LGBTQ+ community built BY the LGBTQ+ community! It can only be made better with your participation! We are still looking for artists, performers, vendors, volunteers, sponsors, donors and people to get word out! Is there something you would like to see? Let us know!
